Job Title: System Assembly Technician
Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Summary: Employee will be an integral part of a solid oxide fuel cell production team. Work will include materials preparation, production activities, and other assignments from supervisor.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs a wide range of skilled repetitive mechanical assembly operations
  • Use of hand tools for fabrication of wire harnessing assemblies and crimping
  • Use of equipment and meters to verify continuity of wiring and connections
  • Use of hand tools to install fasteners, connect plumbing, and installation of components
  • Accurately follows written procedures
  • Completes assembly activities in a timely fashion and meets metrics and goals set daily and weekly
  • Use of torque wrenches and torque screwdrivers
  • Handling of circuit boards and sensitive electronics with ESD protective measures
  • Flashing firmware onto processors and maintaining records of serial numbers and firmware versions
  • Keeps meticulous records of materials, process, and equipment used, as well as test results
  • Familiar with electrical measuring equipment
  • Identifies wires with use of basic color code sequence
  • Completes all required paperwork; prepares required reports and correspondence
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area
  • Complies with laboratory, federal, state, health, safety, fire, and environmental policies
  • Keeps supervisor informed on a regular basis on production activities


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum one year experience or equivalent
  • IPC certified desired
  • Familiar with Electronics handling and good practices for ESD mitigation
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to identify colors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel
  • Must be friendly, courteous, and flexible to work with a variety of staff
  • Must be detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision; work well under pressure; able to manage multiple projects

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
